Dress Up Day

Today we got to dress up as our favorite book character. I chose Katniss Everdeen from the Hunger Games. Other kids chose things like Little Red Riding Hood, her grandmother, the wolf, Cat in the Hat and Charlotte from Charlotte’s Web. I just wore jeans, a black shirt and braided my hair, but it was fun. We had a substitute, so we weren’t able to see what our teacher wore, but our substitute was super nice.

Character Kick Off

Today we did the Character Kick Off. It started with us going outside and watching the marching band. They also revealed our new character theme, which was actually an add on to our old one. There were soldiers and police officers and one of the soldiers who had a kid in our school gave us a speech about making a difference, even if it’s small, like just smiling at someone. Then we went inside and started an activity where we had to work with our groups to figure out clues and put together pictures. My group was just about to start the second activity when it was time to go outside and do our activities, which was pretty fun, but I got really thirsty since we hadn’t brought our water bottles. Then we went inside and had lunch. After lunch, we continued playing our escape from the room game. I think my group worked really well together and we were the first group that finished! We had to do 5 activities. The first one was a word search, the second was a puzzle, the third was a sorting game, the fourth was a picture puzzle of a sort and the fifth and last was a maze. Overall, today was super fun, even though it was raining a bit and the fields were wet.
